According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs on June 9, in US dollar terms, textile and apparel exports in May reached US$25.61 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3% but a month-on-month increase of 6.4%. Textile exports totaled US$12.59 billion, down 0.3% and down 0.9% month-on-month, while apparel exports totaled US$13.02 billion, down 4.1% but up 14.7% month-on-month. From January to May, cumulative textile and apparel exports reached US$116.72 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%.
From January to May 2026, China's cumulative textile and apparel exports reached 812.24 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.1% compared to the same period last year. Textile exports totaled 413.94 billion yuan, down 1.5%, while apparel exports reached 398.3 billion yuan, down 4.7%.
In May, textile and apparel exports reached 175.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7% but a month-on-month increase of 6.9%. Textile exports totaled 86.43 billion yuan, down 5.1% but down 0.5% month-on-month, while apparel exports totaled 89.36 billion yuan, down 8.7% but up 15.1% month-on-month.
From January to May 2026, cumulative textile and apparel exports reached 116.72 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%. Textile exports totaled 59.48 billion US dollars, up 1.7%, while apparel exports totaled 57.24 billion US dollars, down 1.6%. In May, textile and apparel exports totaled US$25.61 billion, down 2.3% year-on-year but up 6.4% month-on-month.
